Flames Raise Kiprusoff's Number, Kiprusoff the 27th Goalie to Record 300 Wins

Kiprusoff's Number to be Raised on February 24th, 2023

Calgary Flames Legend Miikka Kiprusoff will become the fourth player to have his number retired by the team. The Flames will celebrate Kiprusoff’s career by raising his No. 34 banner to the rafters in a pre-game ceremony on February 24th, 2023.

On February 8, 2012, Kiprusoff became the 27th goalie to record his 300th career win. He reached the mark with a 4-3 victory over his former team, the San Jose Sharks. Kiprusoff's 300th win came in his 564th NHL game, making him the 13th-fastest goalie to reach the milestone. He is one of only 10 goalies in NHL history to record 300 wins with one team.

Kiprusoff played nine seasons with the Flames, leading them to the Stanley Cup Final in 2004. He won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie in 2006 and was a four-time All-Star. Kiprusoff retired in 2013 after 13 seasons in the NHL. He finished his career with a record of 303-211-102, a .915 save percentage, and 85 shutouts. Kiprusoff was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.

The Flames retired the numbers of three other players: Lanny McDonald (9), Al MacInnis (2), and Jarome Iginla (12). Former Flames captain Mark Giordano's number 5 is also expected to be retired in the future.
